We started Ace Dog Training as a reaction to all the dogs we passed on our casual walks. Held by the equivalent of a noose around their necks, owners hurried by dragged by their poor companions. None of them had achieved the simple joy of knowing a pleasant walk. For them and their pooch, with just a few simple and humane techniques, could easily remedy this. As they proceeded on this hurried, unpleasant walk, their dogs would then bark, and/or lunge at other dogs. And when they were loose in their own yards, continued to bark at all the passersby. At home the same dogs frequently chased their cat housemates, who seldom had any peace. So much unnecessary suffering!
After 30 years of training dogs, and operating a thriving dog-walking business in New York City years ago, I can say that you owe this to yourself-and your dog. In fact, I trained every single dog I walked in NYC, just in the course of one or two of their pleasant ½ hour walks. At the present time, I am involved in training search and rescue dogs, and my own dog, my partner, works off leash – and totally by hand signals.
